The Ginger People, headquartered in Marina, California, is a family-owned business founded over 30 years ago. The company specializes in producing a diverse range of ginger and turmeric-based products, including candies, beverages, and health shots, all crafted with simple, natural ingredients. Committed to quality and sustainability, their product line is free from GMOs and artificial additives, with an increasing selection of organic offerings. The Ginger People have expanded their reach to Europe and Australia and their mission is to be the most trusted ginger brand globally, focusing on quality, innovation, social responsibility, and education. They sell their products through the retail networks and online.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the executive team as CFO and would suit a Finance Director stepping up or a CFO with some experience. The role will also have responsibility for the HR and IT functions. The CFO will have responsibility for the financial management of the business working in a hands on capacity, overseeing a small Accounting team and also partnering the Board to drive the strategy of the business.
The CFO will have the following responsibilities:
- Act as a strategic partner to the executive team, communicate, engage and interact effectively with the CEO and COO and owners.
- Assess, evaluate and communicate the financial performance of the organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts.
- Provide insight and recommendations for both short-term and long-term growth plans of the organization.
- Identify and implement systems and processes to ensure the accurate delivery of critical financial and operational information.
- Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the company’s plan for growth and expansion.
- Mentor and develop the Accounting team.
- Prepare and present monthly financial reports and analysis including monthly profit and loss, forecast vs. budget and cash flow statement (3-way forecast) and 12 weekly cash flow.
- Provide recommendations for any corrective measures based on monthly reporting.
- Identify, develop and execute analysis of business initiatives and product launches.
- Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
- Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state and federal tax returns.
- Oversee the Human Resources function with line responsibility for the HR Manager to ensure appropriate legal compliance.
- Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability. Oversee cash, investments and asset management area.
- Explore new investment and potential M&A opportunities, providing recommendations on potential returns and risks.
- Maintain outstanding banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners.
- Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budgets.
- Oversee weekly cash management and Accounts Payable.
- Supervise Accounts Receivable management and provide guidance relating to the collection process.
- Oversee IT and systems.
To be successful in this role the CFO will have the following experience:
- Previous experience in a finance leadership position at Finance Director or CFO level with at least 10 years progressive experience.
- Qualified finance professional.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong systems knowledge with the ability to automate processes, using systems and data to drive efficiency.
- Ability to operate both operationally/tactically and also strategically.
- Excellent business partnering skills.
- Proactive, curious and detail oriented.
The salary advertized for this role is a guideline and the salary offered will be commensurate with experience.
