CFO Recruit is exclusively partnering with a manufacturing client in California to appoint a finance leader. This role would suit a Senior Controller, Head of Finance, Director of Finance or Junior CFO with the experience and ability to operate both operationally and strategically within a mid size, privately owned business. This could be a great opportunity for a Senior Controller or Head of Finance ready for the next step to join a growing business and become CFO. We are also considering candidates who have served some time in a CFO role ready for a new challenge. This is an excellent development opportunity. As a partner to the leadership team, the CFO will assist in driving the continued growth of the organization through insightful analysis and excellent financial management of the organization. The junior CFO will have the following responsibilities:
- Act as a strategic partner to the executive team, communicate, engage and interact effectively with the CEO and COO.
- Assess and evaluate the financial performance of the organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts.
- Provide insight and recommendations for both short-term and long-term growth plans of the organization.
- Identify and implement systems and processes to ensure the accurate delivery of critical financial and operational information.
- Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the company’s plan for growth and expansion.
- Mentor and develop the finance team.
- Prepare and present monthly financial reports and analysis including monthly profit and loss, forecast vs. budget and cash flow statement (3-way forecast) and 12 weekly cash flow.
- Provide recommendations for any corrective measures based on monthly reporting.
- Identify, develop and execute analysis of business initiatives and product launches.
- Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
- Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state and federal tax returns.
- Work with Human Resources to ensure appropriate legal compliance.
- Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability. Oversee cash, investments and asset management area.
- Explore new investment and potential M&A opportunities, providing recommendations on potential returns and risks.
- Maintain outstanding banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners.
- Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budgets.
- Oversee weekly cash management and Accounts Payable.
- Supervise Accounts Receivable management and provide guidance relating to the collection process.
To be successful in this role the CFO will have the following experience:
- Previous experience in a finance leadership position with at least 10 years progressive experience.
- Qualified finance professional.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong systems knowledge with the ability to automate processes, using systems and data to drive efficiency.
- Ability to operate both operationally/tactically and also strategically.
- Excellent business partnering skills.
- Proactive, curious and detail oriented.
The salary advertized for this role is a guideline and the salary offered will be commensurate with experience.
