We are working with an innovative biotechnology firm in Boston, MA, focused on advancing cutting-edge therapies and diagnostics to improve patient outcomes. We are looking for a CFO to join a dynamic team dedicated to research, development, and commercialization of breakthrough biotechnologies. This role would suit a Director of Finance or CFO who is highly experienced and strategic to work with the senior leadership team.
The CFO will play a critical role in shaping the financial future of the company. As a key member of the executive team, the CFO will provide strategic financial leadership, oversee all financial operations, and ensure the company’s long-term financial sustainability. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the biotech industry, a proven track record of financial stewardship, and the ability to drive business growth through effective financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute financial strategies to support the company’s growth objectives.
- Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to shape the overall strategic direction of the company.
- Lead financial planning and analysis, providing insights to support decision-making.
- Drive financial performance by identifying opportunities for cost savings, revenue enhancement, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee all financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and tax.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and other relevant regulations.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, investors, and financial institutions.
- Implement and maintain robust financial controls and risk management procedures.
- Lead efforts to secure capital, including equity and debt financing.
- Maintain strong relationships with investors and communicate the company’s financial performance and growth prospects.
- Develop and execute fundraising strategies to support R&D, commercialization, and expansion initiatives.
- Identify and evaluate potential M&A opportunities in line with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Lead financial due diligence, valuation, and integration efforts for acquisitions or strategic partnerships.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement within the finance function.
- Support cross-functional collaboration to achieve business goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior financial role within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
- Proven track record in managing financial operations, fundraising, and strategic financial planning.
- Deep understanding of the biotech industry, including R&D, commercialization, and regulatory environments.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and drive change at all levels of the organization.
- Experience in M&A, IPOs, or other strategic transactions is highly desirable.
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, analysis, and forecasting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs.
