CFO Recruit is proud to be partnering exclusively with a dynamic, employee-owned engineering services firm to appoint a Chief Financial Officer. The role can be remote but there is a requirement to be on site in the office in Bentonville, AR on a quarterly basis for up to a week.

We are seeking a commercially astute and strategically minded CFO who can collaborate closely with the executive leadership team to drive the company’s ambitious growth strategy. The successful candidate will be instrumental in safeguarding the financial health of the organization while also enabling innovation and operational excellence.
Serving as a trusted advisor to the Board, the CFO will contribute to high-level decision-making and ensure the business is well-positioned to meet its long-term objectives. There is opportunity to make a significant impact in a forward-thinking, values-driven company poised for continued success.
The CFO will have the following responsibilities:
- Direct the accounting function, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month-end close processes. Mentor and develop a finance team of 8.
- Lead comprehensive financial planning, annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis across all business units.
- Translate financial insights into actionable strategies, guiding the executive team on business model optimization, capital allocation, and market positioning.
- Deliver forward-looking scenario modeling to support growth initiatives and long-term sustainability planning
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of internal and external financial reporting, including preparation of board-level materials and audit documentation.
- Maintain strict adherence to GAAP, tax laws, and relevant regulatory requirements, ensuring full compliance and proactive risk mitigation.
- Establish and maintain a strong internal control environment and oversee the integrity of financial systems.
- Oversee treasury and cash management strategies, optimizing liquidity, credit facilities, and capital structure to support business goals.
- Manage tax planning and compliance to ensure efficient and responsible corporate tax practices.
- Lead internal audit activities and risk management efforts, proactively identifying financial and operational risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders to ensure best practices in financial governance and regulatory compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency, cost control, and financial systems infrastructure.
- Support strategic investments in capex, innovation, sustainability, technology, and talent ensuring financial modeling and ROI analyses are integral to decision-making
- Partner with business unit leaders to evaluate financial performance at project level, ensuring optimal resource utilization and profitability.
- Act as a key advocate and steward of the company’s employee-owned structure ensuring it is fully integrated into financial planning, communication, and culture.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience in senior financial leadership, ideally within architecture, design, engineering, construction, or other professional services firms.
- Track record of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting across multi-location or multi-entity organizations.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement financial strategies that support business growth, innovation, and operational excellence.
- Hands-on experience with ESOPs or employee-owned company structures, including governance, valuation, and communication with employee-owners highly beneficial
- Ability to lead and mentor high-performing finance and accounting teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Strong systems experience.
The salary advertized for this role is a guideline and the salary offered will be commensurate with experience.
