We are partnering a client in Phoenix to appoint a full time Chief Financial Officer. Our client, a utilities business based in Phoenix, is seeking an experienced and strategic CFO to work in partnership with the CEO to drive the growth strategy for the organization. As a key member of the executive team, the CFO will play a critical role in driving financial performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing insightful guidance to support the company’s growth objectives.
The CFO will have the following responsibilities:
- Develop and execute financial strategies to support the long-term growth and profitability of the company.
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis processes.
- Assess and manage financial risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are in place.
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and regulatory filings.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax requirements.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Manage the company’s cash flow, liquidity, and capital structure.
- Optimize working capital and investment strategies to maximize returns.
- Develop relationships with financial institutions and oversee banking activities.
- Evaluate investment opportunities and provide financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Assess the financial viability of capital projects and strategic initiatives.
- Allocate capital efficiently to maximize shareholder value.
- Oversee financial operations, including billing, collections, and accounts payable.
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Evaluate and implement financial systems and technology solutions to support business objectives.
- Serve as a key liaison with external stakeholders including lenders and regulatory agencies.
- Communicate financial performance, trends, and strategic initiatives to stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners.
- Provide strong leadership and direction to the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top talent, ensuring the team has the skills and capabilities to support business objectives.
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment that values diversity and empowers employees to achieve their full potential.
The CFO should have the following experience and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field and an MBA or CPA preferred.
- Proven experience as a CFO or senior finance executive in the utilities or energy sector.
- In-depth knowledge of financial management principles, practices, and regulations.
- Strong strategic planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with a track record of building high-performing teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
